TEXAS CLUB CELEBRATES 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
In April I was invited to attend the 20th Anniversary of the River City Villagers (RCV) in San Antonio, Texas. When they say things are big in Texas - they aren't kidding. The collectors all arrived at the designated meeting place, the local American Legion, with big smiles, big handshakes and big enthusiasm! A party calls for guests, so the RCV invited members of other Texas based clubs to attend as well. Six different clubs were in attendance. An added bonus was that the president of the National Council of 56 Clubs (NCC), Mike Goode and VP Kirk Wyllie both live in Texas and attended the event as well. We were greeted with traditional Texas hospitality, a great Texas barbeque and lots of good friendship.
I was able to pry a few sneak peaks from our Product Development team so the collectors were able to view the new 2012 gift sets. The consensus was two thumbs up on all the sets with extras on the North Pole set. This one seemed to be a big winner.
I brought along some mystery boxes and invited the group to participate in a "Real Time Display Contest." There were four groups who had no idea what pieces were in the box, or what Village Guests were greeted with the club banner they would be working on. As you can see from the pictures below, a fun time was had by all!
Here are some photos taken by RCV member, David Grubaugh of the event.
